Dear Coast Guard Spouse of the Boston area, Perhaps you have lived in the area for many years or maybe a recent move has brought you to Boston. Either way, we are so glad you have found us and we are glad to be here for you. If you are new here, I wish you and your family a warm welcome on behalf of the Boston Coast Guard Spouses’ Association. Our newly formed Board is working hard at finding creative ways to connect us through activities and events that can bring us face-to-face with respect to the diverse schedules that we all keep. While mid-week luncheons may work for some spouses, a dinner get-together may be better for others. Still, many spouses may be more likely to attend a family event on a weekend. Our Association is designed around our spouses and it is our goal to make it possible for you to join us. We also plan to continue to capitalize on the convenience and benefits of electronic communication. Our website, newsletter, email invitations, and announcements allow us to reach our members even if we live on opposite sides of the suburbs, in the heart of Boston, or even New Hampshire, Maine, or Rhode Island. So, regardless of where you live, you will be able to become an Association member and stay connected with all of the spouses in the area. One of our main objectives is to create a sense of community and draw our spouses closer together despite the fact that we live, in most instances, quite far from one another. Our Association doesn’t want geography to keep us apart. Our entire Board is hoping that we will get the chance to meet you at one of our upcoming events or meetings. However, before that time, if there is anything I can do to help during your transition please feel free to contact me at bostonCGspouses@live.com Sincerely, Melanie Knapp, Past President 2009-2010 Boston Coast Guard Spouses’ Association
